Our Vision
To empower and advocate for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with a disability, their families and carers in the ACT and region.
Our Mission
To promote and protect the rights and concerns of persons from culturally and linguistically diverse and/or non-English speaking backgrounds with a disability, their families and carers living in the ACT and region, in order for them to fulfill their full potential
Our Goals
1. To provide systemic advocacy for individuals from CaLD and/or NESB backgrounds with a disability;
2. To provide systemic advocacy for the issues and concerns of clients, their family members and/or carers in a supportive manner;
3. To ensure that clients, their family members and/or carers get fair access to both government and non-government services in the ACT and region;
4. To improve the quality of life for individuals from CaLD and/or NESB backgrounds with a disability, their family members and carers;
5. To ensure that clients are respected as valuable community members and are free from all forms of discrimination, ensuring individuals are included in the planning and delivery of NDIS in the ACT and region (in partnership with Disability ACT);
6. To provide individuals with information about NDIS and how to access support services, in a way that is culturally sensitive and appropriate to these diverse groups; and
7. To implement, monitor and evaluate mechanisms to support the delivery of accessible and acceptable services for these communities.
About Ethnic Disability ACT Inc.
Ethnic Disability ACT Inc. was established in November, 2013 as a result of subsequent lobbying around the need to establish a disability organisation which serves for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with a disability, their families and carers.
ED ACT Inc. is currently the only ethnic-specific disability organisation in the ACT and region.
